The well-preserved windmills of the 18th century are the great asset of this period. The 19 windmills in Kinderdijk, built between 1722 and 1761, are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are the largest concentration of windmills in the Netherlands. Originally used to drain meadows, these majestic buildings with their impressive 92-foot sails are open to the public from April to October, including on special windmill days when the sails are set in motion.
De Hoge Veluwe National Park
